HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani on Thursday visited Al Gassar train station of Doha Metro's Red Line project to inspect the progress of work and tunnel-digging activities.

HE the Prime Minister was given a detailed explanation on the progress of work and briefed on the application of health, safety and security measures as well as on workers and their living conditions. He also toured part of the ongoing excavation in tunnels of the Red Line project, and listened to presentation by the manager of Red Line project on the achievements and challenges accompanied the work during 2014.

During the tour, His Excellency was also given a presentation on the different phases of work in all of the sites that make up Red Line North Underground of the Doha Metro project.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior inaugurated Lebretha tunnel boring machine, which brought the number of tunnel boring machines used by the Red Line project to 8 machines. They are part of 21 tunnel boring machines earmarked for the first phase of Metro project and will drill a total of 113 km of tunnels until 2018.

With total length of 43 kilometers, Red Line connects the towns of Al Khor in the north and Mesaieed in the south, and its first phase has 18 stations, of which thirteen are underground stations.
