The Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, has briefed a visiting delegation from Brazil on the best practices and the latest technologies in use as well as the mechanisms of controlling rail operation and maintenance, during a tour they made to the Dubai Metro depot at Rashidiya.
Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Director of Rail Operation, RTA Rail Agency, said, "The RTA is always keen on meeting with countries concerned and specialised in rail transport industry in order to share views and come up with ideas that contribute to the adoption of the highest international practices as well as the improvement of the Dubai Metro, which has become a destination for others who are keen to review it as a model of a successful mass transit mode." The delegation also visited the Operations Control Center at Rashidiya Depot where it was familiarised with the routines of handling emergency cases such as responding to early warning systems, management of security, communication and faults, metro operation and control system, and monitoring the power feed and electric systems of the metro.
The Brazilian delegation, comprising a host of rail and rail maintenance specialists in Brazil, was also acquainted with the monitoring of the rolling stock, safe operation of the metro, deployment of alternative solutions in the event of an emergency, and the 3,000 digital cameras installed along the metro lines and operated in collaboration with the Transport Security Department of the Dubai Police, where output is displayed in a CCTV room overseen by a specialist security officer.
At the end of the visit, the delegation commended the advanced world-class systems used in monitoring, operating and maintaining trains, and availing others the opportunity to review the best practices adopted in the operation of the Dubai Metro, which will enhance the exchange of expertise, and step up the acquiring of knowledge that help accomplish projects quite smoothly.
