President Abdel Fattah el Sisi announced a huge allocation of EGP 10 billion to develop Sinai.
Addressing a gathering grouping the interior and defense ministers and top brass of the Armed Forces, Sisi said his decision to establish a new command to be charge of combating terror is meant to assert that "we are going to Sinai for construction and development."
Also present were the Azhar Sheikh, the Coptic Pope, state officials and public figures from the political, media, cultural and arts spectrums.
Speaking to the new command's head Lieutenant General Osama Askar, he said: "Let the people bear witness, these attacks are not to be repeated in Sinai.".
"You are responsible in front of me and the Egyptians for achieving development in Sinai," he told Askr.
"I'm one of you not the ruler of Egypt," he told the audience.
"You are who assigned me with the responsibility for all Egyptians," he went on to say.
The president assigned the interior minister to reveal the truth about the killing of political activist Shaimaa el Sabagh last week.
The minister vowed to refer any officer and soldier if proven involved in her killing to criminal trial.
