President Abdel-Fatah El Sisi held a meeting on Tuesday with the ministers of planning, supply and home trade, and agriculture and land reclamation to discuss national projects for provision of people's basic needs.
Cabinet spokesman Alaa Yousef said the minister of supply reviewed projects aimed at establishing logistic centers for grains and food commodities to achieve self-sufficiency of food.
The president welcomed the new projects which serve the poor, the spokesman said, pointing out that the minister of agriculture presented a plan to reclaim four million feddans.
The minister of planning provided a report on the economic performance in the fourth quarter of FY 2013-2014.
A growth rate of 3.7 percent has been achieved against 2.5 percent in Q3 and 1.4 percent in Q2 of the same FY.
Gross Domestic Product in 2013-2014 hit 2 trillion pounds against 1.8 trillion pounds in the previous FY achieving 14 percent rise.
The investment growth rate hit 12.9 percent in 2013-2014 against 3.7 percent in 2012-2013 which reflected the confidence increase in Egyptian economy, according to the minister.
