Suez Canal Authority chairman Mohab Mamish stressed that the first global conference of the Suez Canal, which will take place on February 22, aims at serving global trade and boosting the national economy.

Speaking at a press conference on the details of the "Chances and Challenges", Mamish said the authority urged all experts and specialists in the maritime transport industry to attend the conference, to run till February 24, to discuss the latest in the maritime transport, the ongoing developments of the international waterway as well as future projects and their role in serving road and maritime roads worldwide.

Ship owners, experts in maritime transport industry and logistics, businessmen, academics, investors and media people are invited to the event, Mamish said.

The conference is a chance to exchange viewpoints over investment opportunities in the Suez Canal Development Corridor and challenges facing maritime transport industry, he said.

He added that he visited Saudi Arabia and Kuwait lately to talk about new projects in the canal corridor.
