Tax payments hit 267 billion pounds in the 2014/2015 fiscal year, Chairman of the Egyptian Tax Authority Abdel Moniem Matar said.
The figure represents 90 percent of the total target, Matar said at a Ramadan sohour ceremony (a pre-dawn meal consumed by Muslims before starting fasting) organized by the Tax Authority late Tuesday.
Tax officers collected 105 billion pounds of the sales tax and 162 of the income tax so far, he said.
Matar noted that contacts are underway with the government to identify sectors that do not pay taxes.
