Director of Social Programmes and Community Affairs at the Southern Governorate Shaikha Muneera bint Mohammed Al Khalifa said that the third Al-Basta Market, organised by the Southern Governorate in association with Tamkeen and a number of local and international partners will kick-start on Friday 19, 2014.
The third Al-Basta Market, the biggest shopping festival in Bahrain, to be held at the Bahrain International Circuit, will be open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from 02:00 PM to 09:00 PM until March 28, 2015.
Shaikha Muneera said about 75,000 visitors are expected to visit the market this year, compared to 62,000 last year.
She added that about 700 participants, including individuals, institutions and productive families are expected to showcase their products, compared to 493 in the previous edition.
She explained that the market aims to spur trade activity, boost entrepreneurship and promote community cohesion.
She added new sections will be introduced in this year's edition, including an aquarium, an additional children's corner, a green industrial oasis, Haj Camera and Handicrafts.
