The United Arab Emirates, UAE, has participated in the Annual International Bazaar, organised by the UN Office in Geneva to support children’s projects throughout the world.
Every year, the United Nations Women's Guild in Geneva, in collaboration with the Permanent Missions accredited to the United Nations, the Geneva government authorities and business community organises a charity bazaar to raise funds for disadvantaged children around the world.
The UAE's participation was supported by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and supervised by wife of Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, Permanent Representative of the UAE to United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva.
The UAE mission's stall has seen many visitors, including ambassadors, representatives and members of permanent missions in Geneva, who were introduced to the UAE arts, crafts and local foods.
Commenting on the function, Al Zaabi lauded Sheikha Fatima's contributions and support to women's and children's issues locally and globally. "Her Highness is widely respected by international organisations, including the United Nations Women's Guild, which honoured her several times," he noted.
Wife of Al Zaabi said Her Highness' support for the bazaar provides a bright image of the UAE at international forums.
