The UAE Armed Forces has signed 7 new deals on the third day of IDEX valued at AED 3. 955 billion with local and foreign firms to buy military hardware including Aerial radars, helicopters and other ammunition.
Maj-Gen Obaid Al Ketbi, IDEX spokesman, briefing media today, said that the Armed Forces has entered into a deal with Tawazan Dynamics for the purchase of highly ultra-precision guided ammunition at a value of AED 1.53 billion, and also with Emirates Advanced Research and Technology Holding, EARTH, to develop Oshkosh defence systems and provide technical assistance and maintenance by providing spare parts with a total value of AED 864 million.
The Armed Forces has signed a deal with Caracal International, part of the Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC), to buy 80 thousands modern assault rifles, type CAR816 at a value of AED 763 million.
The fourth deal was signed with AgustaWestland Aviation Services (AWAS) from Italy to buy 9 helicopters with a total value of AED 732 million, six will be for search and rescue purposes and three for VIP use.
The fifth deal was done with Rheinmentall Air Defence to provide technical support through providing spare parts and maintenance services, and repair for the Skyguard Cannon System at a value of AED 34 million.
The sixth deal was done with Raytheon Systems from Britain, to purchase and assemble an aerial radar to detect planes at a value of AED 11 million.
The final deal of today was signed with Thales Communications and Security from France for technical maintenance, repair and support of devices at a value of AED 21 million.
