The Albanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will demand the removal of VAT in cases when it is refunded to businesses, local media reported Tuesday.
Albanian Telegraphic Agency quoted the head of chamber, Nikolin Jaka, as saying that amendments would be proposed to all current laws in a draft fiscal package which will be submitted to the Albanian Ministry of Finance for review.
“One of the laws we intend to change in partnership with the government is the law on VAT and removal of VAT scheme on activities that are reimbursed. There should be no VAT when it is refunded through legal procedures,” Jaka said.
Another proposal involves application of income tax which needs to be no more than 10 percent for businesses up to 8 million leks (76,665 U.S. dollars). Other incentives are also being proposed for the sector of agri-business and tourism in Albania.
