World Bank (WB)
Manama - BNA

The Ministry of Finance (MOF)'s Undersecretary Arif Saleh Khamis met a delegation from the World Bank as part of the Kingdom's National Strategic Programme for Economizing Electric Energy Consumption (KEEP) that had been launched jointly by Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the World Bank on September 23, 2013.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Works Ministry, Industry and Commerce Ministry, Housing Ministry, National Gas and Oil Authority (NOGA), Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) and the Economic Development Board (EDB).
The Ministry's Undersecretary said the main goal of the new strategy aims to reduce the rate of consumption by 20% by the year 2030 through regulatory measures to save energy for development, boost energy efficiency in (public/commercial/residential) buildings and in industrial facilities to meet increasingly growing demand, preserve expendable natural resources and compliance with principles of environmental safety, lower gas emissions and encouragement of the private sector to invest in this field and directly boost overall competitiveness in the national economy.
