Vice President Joe Biden spoke with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk about bilateral and US-EU relations, the NATO summit, and the Ukraine Crisis in a discussion over the phone Wednesday.
Biden congratulated Tusk, "on his election as the President of the European Council, and discussed our shared agenda for strengthening US-EU ties by completing the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and working together to bolster economic growth and energy security in Europe," according to a statement from the White House.
The two leaders agreed that more consequences need to be imposed on Russia for "blatant escalation of the conflict in Ukraine." They additionally expressed commitment to, "continued close coordination on the crisis in Ukraine and its broader implications for European security, including at the NATO summit in Wales."
