Iraq
London - KUNA

The British government announced Tuesday provision of three million pounds as an extra humanitarian aid to help Iraqis fleeing Islamic State's, or ISIL, attacks in northern Iraq.
The three million pounds will be given to four charities working in Iraq, including Mercy Corps, Save the Children, the International Rescue Committee, and Action Against Hunger, to provide food, medical supplies, water, and sanitation to over 100,000 individuals around Iraq, British Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening said in a press statement.
The extra humanitarian aid will also be cashed through the "Rapid Response Facility," managed by British International Development department, so the four charities can start using it immediately, Greening noted, pointing out that her country had sent last Thursday eight million pounds of emergency humanitarian aid for Iraq.
She also assured that British military planes are currently air dropping humanitarian aid on Iraqi areas, where thousands of besieged families at the Sinjar Mountains.
Greening also pledged boosting cooperation with humanitarian organizations and authorities centered in North Iraq, noting at the same time that around 1.5 million people have fled their homes and areas in the last months.
