British industrial output increased by 1.5 percent in September year-on-year, said the Office of National Statistics (ONS) on Thursday.
Total production in September of this year is estimated to have increased by 0.6 percent compared with the previous month. It is higher than market estimation consensus of 0.4 percent.
There were increases in three of the main sectors, with mining & quarrying being the largest contributor, increasing by 3.8 percent, said ONS.
Manufacturing output is estimated to have grown by 2.9 percent in September compared with the same month a year earlier, and increased by 0.4 percent compared with that in August, figures showed.
Industrial production is still 9.5 percent below its pre-recession peak in the first quarter of 2008. Manufacturing is 4.1 percent below its peak, said ONS.
Between the second quarter and the third quarter of 2014, however, production output increased by 0.2 percent and manufacturing output grew by 0.4 percent respectively, data also showed.
