India, Pakistan agree to extended rail communication by 3 years
New Delhi - XINHUA

New Delhi and Islamabad have agreed to extended their agreement on rail communication by three years, Indian officials said Friday.

"The agreement between the governments of India and Pakistan relating to rail communication has been extended by mutual consent through diplomatic channels for the period of three years from Jan.19, 2016 to Jan. 18, 2019," a statement issued by India's External Affairs ministry said.

The agreement between the two countries over rail communication in respect of goods and passenger traffic was signed in 1976.

At present, passenger and goods traffic operates on Delhi- Lahore route via Attari- Wagah, and passenger traffic between Jodhpur and Karachi via Munabao-Khokhrapar.
