Iranian and Malaysian officials exchanged views over enhancement of mutual cooperation in the aviation sector, expansion of air transit and transportation in particular.
In a meeting between Malaysian Ambassador to Iran Raja Nour Shirvan Zeinolabeddin and Head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Alireza Jahangirian on Sunday, both sides explored ways to promote bilateral cooperation in the field of air transportation.
During the meeting, Jahangirian said that nearly 900 flights cross the Iranian air space every day.
He assured the Malaysian ambassador that Iran's air space is safe and enjoys high security for passenger planes.
The two sides also called for an increase in the number of flights between the two countries.
Iran and Malaysia share many cultural and social affinities and the ties between the two countries' people are very close.
Bilateral trade relations between Iran and Malaysia are also on the rise and bothTehran and Kuala Lumpur are cooperating on many regional and international issues.
Both countries are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and have used these forums and bilateral relations to develop more cordial and closer political ties.
