Minister of Agriculture, Akef al-Zoubi
Amman - Petra

Minister of Agriculture, Akef al-Zoubi, on Monday said that the Joint Jordanian-Russian Higher Committee will meet next month to discuss a number of issues related to export of Jordanian fruits and vegetables to Russia and import of Russian wheat, meat and sheep.
The meeting, scheduled for mid-November, will also discuss a number of other issues related to the flow of goods between both countries.
Al-Zoubi said he had recently visited Moscow where he discussed with Russian officials preparations for the November 11-13 meeting to be held in Moscow.
The issue of exporting fruits and vegetables to Russia and removing obstacles in this regard will top the agenda of the meeting. It will also deal with importing wheat from Russia, building centralized silos for the storage of Russian wheat in Aqaba, promoting trade between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in scientific and technological fields.
Al-Zoubi stressed that the meeting with Russia's Minister of Agriculture Nikolai Fyodorov, who chairs his government's economic team, was fruitful, in terms of deciding on a number of economic and agricultural issues and will thus lead to even more trade and investment advantages available in the two countries.
He told Petra that the two sides discussed the subject of Jordan cultivating food grain crops in the Russian territory, and the issue will come up again at the Jordanian-Russian Business Council meeting. He added that the private sector in both the countries would arrange investments in grain cultivation, and the two governments would facilitate any needs.
