Minister of Agriculture Akef Al-Zoubi and Jordan Customs' Director General, Munther Al Assa, on Sunday flew to Russia as part of efforts to continue opening new markets to export Jordanian agricultural products.
Earlier, the government held meetings of the joint Jordanian-Russian committee and signed, sealed and delivered a customs cooperation agreement to facilitate customs exchange between the two countries.
The visit follows efforts to open the Russian market to Jordanian agricultural products at the invitation of major Russian private sector companies. The Russians are willing to import Jordanian agricultural products, thanks to these products good reputation.
Al Zoubi, during a meeting with Russian private sector representatives last month, said the ministry is ready to provide the Russian market with its need of vegetables and fruits and spoke about the possibility of founding a Jordanian-Russian Center to facilitate the flow of Jordanian products to the Russian market.
