Kenya seeks to further enhance cooperation with Algeria in the security and economic fields, said Tuesday in Nairobi Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyata.
"We hope that relations between Kenya and Algeria will develop, particularly in the fight against terrorism," Kenyata told the press at the end of his meeting with Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, on the sidelines of the summit of the African Union Peace and Security Council.
Sellal is representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the summit.
"We also hope to work with Algeria owing to its long experience in the fight against this scourge in order to strengthen security in Kenya," he added.
The two sides also discussed the enhancement of oil and gas cooperation.
President Kenyata said that the opening of an embassy of Kenya in Algeria would boost bilateral cooperation.
