Malaysia's domestic Producer Price Index (PPI) for April 2016 decreased 2.8% to 100.2, the Statistics Department said Tuesday.
In a statement, the department said the highest drop was recorded by the mining index (-29.6 %), followed by electricity and gas (-3.8%) and manufacturing (-1.3%). Meanwhile, the index for agriculture, forestry and fishing as well as water supply showed an increase of 15% and 6.7%, respectively.
The department also said the PPI for local production inclined by 0.5% in April 2016 as compared to March 2016, according to Malaysia's (Bernama) News Agency. This was due to increases in agriculture, forestry and fishing (+2.8%), water supply (+2.1%) and manufacturing (+0.3%).
Meanwhile, the index for electricity and gas decreased (-1.1%) but the index for mining remained unchanged.
