The Ministry of Economy has announced the appointment of Ahmad Sultan Al-Falahi as the new Trade Attaché for the UAE Embassy in New Delhi, India.

The appointment of Al-Falahi is in line with the leadership s policy of supporting the UAE s trade offices overseas and is jointly coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abdullah Al Saleh, Under-Secretary for Foreign Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economy, commented, "The new Trade Attaché plays an integral part in the Ministry s efforts to boost the stature of its trade office in India. Trade ties between the two countries are very important for both sides. We wish Al-Falahi all the best in his new role."

He added, "India ranks first in terms of total trade volumes among the UAE s trading partners, with balance of trade reaching US$28 billion in 2014, while the UAE investments in India have exceeded US$8 billion."

Al-Saleh noted that the trade office offers support to the UAE businesses abroad through providing advice and consultation and acquainting them with local laws and legislations. The office also offers information on resources, commodities and contacts in addition to processing queries and requests.

Prior to his appointment as Trade Attaché in the Ministry of Economy, Ahmad Sultan Al-Falahi worked at JAFZA as Sales Director for Europe and the Americas. Earlier, he served as General Trade Director at Dry Docks World. He has also completed a successful tenure at Dubai Maritime City as Regional Sales Director for the MENA region. Al-Falahi has been a member of the Dubai Leaders Programme since 2008.
