Pakistani Trade Minister Khurram Dasgir Khan will pay an official visit to Tehran next week to attend the 7th Meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint Trade Commission and also discuss bilateral ties with senior Iranian trade officials, an Iranian envoy announced.
"The two-day visit which will start on December 16 aims to pave the way for further trade cooperation," Iran's Commercial Attaché in Pakistan Morad Nemati said on Friday.
Iran and Pakistan have exchanged delegations on a regular basis and the two Muslim neighboring nations are keen to expedite expansion of their bilateral ties.
In October, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Pakistani Prime Minister’s Adviser for Political and Security Affairs Sartaj Aziz in a meeting in Beijing conferred on the latest developments in bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.
Earlier this month, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain in a meeting in Islamabad underlined the need for the further broadening of mutual cooperation.
During the meeting in the Pakistani capital, Larijani and President Hussain explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral ties.
During the meeting, both sides agreed that Iran-Pakistan economic and trade ties need to be further expanded, and said, "Greater activities of the economic activists and businessmen are necessary."
The Iranian parliament speaker and the Pakistani president reiterated that Tehran and Islamabad should increase the level of their cooperation in fighting against terrorism.
