The Ministry of Trade and Industry has organized a meeting attended by a Russian trade delegation representing the Russian provinces development fund, as well as representatives of a major Russian company and food and clothing industries.
The director of the exports council, Ali Al Kabir. said in statements Sunday the Russian delegation sought to sign a contract to import Egyptian vegetables and fruit, pointing out that the delegation discussed means to set up a Russian trade house in Egypt to increase trade cooperation.
He also said the delegation members were keen on developing relations with Egypt especially in the light of the development of political relations between the two countries and the Russian ban on importing European and Turkish products.
Al Kabir pointed out that the volume of Egyptian exports to Russia rose from 221 million dollars in 2011 to 344 million last years with a 55 percent increase while the Egyptian imports from Russia rose to more than 3 billion dollars last year.
The most important Egyptian exports to Russia are oranges, grapes, strawberry, potatoes, onions, rice and carpets.
