Slovenia is abandoning nuclear power
Ljubljana - XINHUA

Slovenia will allocate some 157 million euros (213 million U.S. dollars) for the building of a repository for low and medium radioactive waste, the Slovenian Press Agency reported on Wednesday.
The proposed repository will be located near the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant (NEK), 103 km east of Ljubljana, and be put into operation in 2020.
It is expected to store all nuclear waste produced by minor producers in Slovenia and half of the waste produced by NEK, which is jointly owned by Croatia.
The NEK, Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, provides around one fourth of all electricity produced in Slovenia.
The planned project will be safe, environmentally-friendly, technologically sound and economical, as well as socially acceptable, the Slovenian Infrastructure and Spatial Planning Ministry was quoted as reporting.
