Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali Moselhi said on Monday the ministry received 105 of the new silos being manufactured by Bloomberg L.P. Company as part of an agreement to apply modern technology in silo manufacturing to avoid waste.
The minister told MENA that Egypt's needs of wheat silos do not conform to the current storage rates in light of the big quantities of wheat supplies that are being provided by farmers during the season.
He unveiled current coordination between the Researches Center, the Engineering Authority and the Military Production Ministry to find best solutions to storage problems in Egypt.
The Supply Ministry agreed with Bloomberg L.P. Company to execute three logistic projects in Egypt to improve storage and transfer systems.
Egypt consumes 16 million tons of wheat annually, including 9.6 million tons used in subsidized bread production.
Out of the 9.6 million tons of wheat, Egypt produces 3.75 million tons and the rest is being imported from abroad.
