Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc
Hanoi - ArabToday

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Wednesday urged his cabinet members to take drastic measures to attain the targeted economic growth of 6.7 percent in 2017.

Phuc made the remarks at a government's monthly meeting held in Vietnamese capital Hanoi on Wednesday.

According to Phuc, so far, no foreign organizations have forecast 6.7-percent growth for Vietnam in 2017, showing the challenge faced by the government.

Against the backdrop of volatile international situation, protectionism resurgence as well as increasing prices of crude oil and basic materials, Vietnam should make appropriate moves to promote growth, macro-economic stability, and the economy's competitiveness, Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA quoted Phuc as saying.

Solutions should be devised to address problems like low agricultural product prices in the domestic market and low labor productivity, especially in agriculture and rural areas, said Phuc.
