Zambia and Turkey on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at exploring investment potentials in the two countries.
The agreement was signed between Zambia's investment agency, the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey, a professional business organization leading economic relations of Turkish private sector abroad.
Patrick Chisanga, the investment agency's director-general said Zambia was seeking to open a solid economic partnership with the Turkish business community.
He said after the signing ceremony in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, that there were tremendous investment opportunities between the two countries which should be explored.
There was also need to consolidate business agreements between the two countries to help explore areas of interest, he added.
Meanwhile, Turkish Ambassador to Zambia Ahmet Semsettin said the business community from the two countries will also establish a business council to boost interactions.
According to him, the private sector was key to driving national economies the world over.
The Turkish investors are in the country to hold meetings with various stakeholders on the possibility of setting up the business council aimed at promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
