A total of 992 new companies have been registered in Macao in the third quarter of 2012, increasing by 16.7 percent year-on-year, according to figures released on Wednesday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). From July to September, registered capital value of the new companies decreased by 66.1 percent to 162 million patacas (20.3 million U.S. dollars), with capital from Macao, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland totaling 76 million patacas (9.52 million U.S. dollars), 12 million patacas (1.5 million U.S. dollars) and 70 million patacas (8.77 million U.S. dollars) respectively, the figures indicated. In the third quarter of 2012, there were 121 companies in dissolution and the value of registered capital mounted to 12 million patacas (1.5 million U.S. dollars), of which registered capital of 45 Wholesale and Retail,according to the DSEC. In the first three quarters of 2012, a total of 2,822 new companies were incorporated, up by 11.6 percent year-on-year; total value of registered capital decreased by 48.8 percent to 450 million patacas (56.39 million U.S. dollars). Companies in dissolution totalled 382 and the value of registered capital amounted to 64 million patacas (8.02 million U.S. dollars). At the end of the third quarter of 2012, number of registered companies totalled 39,116, an increase of 3,171 from a year earlier.
