Abu Dhabi - WAM

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), the master developer of ports and industrial zones, is inviting ADPC staff members, tenants and contractors to take part in a three-day fire safety campaign. The activity is part of the company's continuous endeavor to enhance safety in the work place and will be held in coordination with the National Security Institute Abu Dhabi. "Stop Fire, Stay Safe" is the title of the campaign which started yesterday, 16 March, outside ADPC's headquarters next to Zayed Port, and will continue today, 17 March, at the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) and on 18 March at Khalifa Port. "Ports and industrial zones are high-risk work environments and it is our responsibility to create awareness among our staff members and those working with us of the potential dangers, such as fire hazards", says Sultan Al Jaberi, VP - Regulations, HSE '&' Security. "Besides creating awareness, this campaign provides a fantastic opportunity for all participants to experience what it actually feels like to be caught in a fire situation and, most importantly, to learn how to effectively minimize the risk factors." On all three days, the National Security Institute will provide training in a high tech fire and earthquake simulator. In 20-minute sessions the participants will have the opportunity to experience simulated scenarios at work and at home and will be given tips on how to deal with dangerous situations. The participants will also have the opportunity to practice firefighting with ADPC's cutting edge fire simulator while learning about the different types of fire extinguishers and their correct usage. The fire experts will offer free safety inspections of fire extinguishers in vehicles visiting Zayed Port and Khalifa Port. Furthermore, ADPC will display its state-of-the-art fire truck and showcase the vehicle's equipment and functions, and give out free information brochures and first aid kits to all attendees. "Fire incidents can happen anywhere at any time. Nobody can control that. What we can control is the awareness and know-how of our employees. That's why ADPC is very keen on providing regular training to enhance the safety of our work environment", Al Jaberi adds.
