In the third year running, Al Meera is setting up camp at the Sealine Resort south of Doha in support of the annual Winter Camp. As in the past, Al Meera’s branch will operate for the entire duration of the camp until spring next year. “We have started a proud tradition in supporting the Winter Camp,” said Dr Mohamed Nasser al-Qahtani, deputy chief executive officer of Al Meera. “Our branch will hold the regular products and services similar to Al Meera outlets nation-wide, with the addition of camping supplies and materials,” he explained. In addition to supplying typical supermarket goods and camping supplies, some space is set aside for families and children to safely enjoy the pleasant weather. Space is also available on a first-serve basis for other companies to sell their wares on site. Part of the incentive in opening up the Al Meera seasonal branch for a third year running is the traffic safety component. “Traffic-related accidents have gone down significantly since we first set up shop here three years ago,” recalled Dr al-Qahtani. “No longer do people have to drive all the way to Wakrah and Doha for their daily supplies – it is all conveniently available right here on site. Less driving means fewer chances of accidents occurring and we are proud that our presence here in Sealine has made the season safer and more secure for everyone.” Al Meera Consumer Goods has signed a construction contract, for its new branch in Hazm Al Markhiya ‘AlQutaifiya,’ with Al Muftah Company. Dr al-Qahtani and Al Muftah’s executive director Ibrahim Abdul Rahman al-Muftah were the signatories. “In only a few months, residents in the area of Hazm Al Markhiya ‘AlQutaifiya’ will benefit from the array of services and products that Al Meera has to offer,” Dr al-Qahtani said. The branch will be developed as per Al Meera’s new concept, with the store itself occupying 500sq m. The plot is 10,000sq m with 3,125sq m of built up area. With construction expected to take a little over eight months, Al Meera’s Hazm Al Markhiya ‘AlQutaifiya’ branch is expected to open next year. “Our expansion strategy is in full swing, and the country will see further Al Meera outlets opening through 2015,” Dr al-Qahtani added.
