Aluminium Bahrain (Alba)’s donation of BD 10,000 (US$ 26,526) towards Al Rahma Centre underlines the company’s backing for initiatives contributing to the well-being of young people with special needs, enhancing their quality of life and enabling them to be productive members of society.The Riffa based Al Rahma Centre - which is part of the Bahrain Association for Mental Retardation – provides health, social, psychological, vocational and rehabilitative care in the form of regular day care to both children and young adults who are mentally and physically challenged. The Chairman of Alba’s Board of Directors, Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji presented the cheque on Alba’s behalf to the Chairman of Al Rahma Centre, Rasheed Al Me’araj during a meeting held recently at his office in the Central Bank of Bahrain.Also present at the meeting was the Deputy Chairman of Al Rahma Centre, Aref Jamsheer, Board Member, Hassan Al Asfoor and Director of the Centre, Nadia Al-Bakr.Commenting on Alba’s donation to Al Rahma Centre, the Chairman of Alba’s Board of Directors, Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji said:“Young people with special needs require special care, and Al Rahma Centre is doing wonderful work in enriching the lives of those loved members of our society.We see this support not only as a tangible expression of our corporate social responsibility, but also as a key gesture in building a healthy future for Bahrain’s youth with special needs.”Al Rahma Center caters to more than 40 young people at a time, and provides comprehensive services and programmes at their purpose built premises in Riffa.
