Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)’s credentials as a corporate citizen were highlighted with the launch of its annual blood donation campaign on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Alba Health Care Centre. The blood donation campaign has been held annually since 1978 to support the Central Blood Bank at the Salmaniya Medical Centre. A large number of Alba employees took part in the blood donation drive, and provided their support to this vital organ of Bahrain’s health care services. Commenting on Alba’s Annual Blood Donation campaign, the company’s Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said: “For more than thirty-years, the success of Alba’s blood donation campaign has been due to the enthusiastic backing it has received from Alba’s employees. Even today, this support remains strong and has provided the driving force behind this year’s campaign centred on the theme: ‘Give blood, Give life.’ We are confident that this corporate social responsibility initiative will play a vital role in meeting the needs of patients in critical condition and, thus, save their lives.” Alba Health Care Centre is widely regarded as one of the most advanced medical centres to be set up in an industrial plant in Bahrain. It provides round-the-clock medical services to all of its employees, and in cases of emergency, even to residents in the neighbouring areas.
