Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) - the jointly-owned, UAE-based aluminium conglomerate to be formed by Mubadala Development Corporation and Investment Corporation of Dubai through combining their respective aluminium industry assets - will participate as a new entity for the first time at the annual Careers UAE 2014 exhibition. EGA's participation continues the long-standing commitment by its core operating entities - Dubai Aluminium PJSC (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) - thus reaffirming its commitment to Emiratisation and underpinning its reputation as a leading employer in the UAE. Held under the patronage of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the 14th Careers UAE Exhibition takes place from 22-24 April at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition complements the 7-year National Agenda to promote employment in the UAE leading up to World Expo 2020 and in line with the UAE's Economic Vision. Last year, DUBAL and EMAL attracted more than 2,700 people to their separate stands This year EGA is looking to build on this by offering UAE job-seekers a unique insight into the company's working environment, culture and opportunities. Job-seekers will be able to discuss their aspirations with Human Resources Department team members, and submit their resumes directly at the stand. Commenting on EGA's participation, Elham Al Qasim, Executive Vice President Human Capital at EGA, said, "The aluminium industry is a critical element of the UAE's industrial diversification programme. Our staff are our most important assets and at EGA we invest in people not only to maintain our position as a leader in a global industry, but to also acting as a talent engine for the nation. EGA commitment to hiring, growing and developing local talent is uncompromising as we strive towards delivering a legacy that will serve the country well into the future." The event provides a critical platform for Emiratis to gain a better understanding of the various training and career opportunities available to them. In 2014, EGA will have more than 300 positions available for UAE nationals across its operations and maintenance divisions. Al Qasim added, "Our active participation in career fairs and exhibitions has enabled us to offer opportunities to hundreds of UAE nationals. Our people strategy involves not only employing national talent, but also providing a platform for developing the local skills pool by investing in training initiatives at all levels across the secondary and tertiary education spectrum." EGA offers several training programmes, which target engineering graduates, high school science graduates and holders of technical certificates from Institute of Applied Technology schools. These programmes include training and career development programmes for UAE Nationals, including pre-employment courses in several disciplines, a work placement programme for tertiary students and a comprehensive graduate training programme creating a development pool that aids in career growth and succession planning.
