Reading - UPI

British energy company BG announced it started production at the Greater Bongkot South field about 125 miles of the coast of Thailand. "The start up of Greater Bongkot South was delivered to schedule and within budget," BG Group Chief Executive Frank Chapman said in a statement. "It will increase production capacity for BG Group in Thailand by 50 percent and will provide material new gas volumes for sale into a growing market." Standalone facilities associated with the field have a processing capacity of 350 million cubic feet of natural gas and 15,000 barrels of condensate per day, the company said. "Once plateau production is achieved, Greater Bongkot South will deliver some 14,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day net to BG Group," added Chapman. Peak production is expected by the second quarter of 2012.
