Coca-Cola Co., the world's largest soft-drink maker, posted net income of 2.22 billion U.S. dollars, or 0.95 dollars per share for the third quarter of 2011, both 8 percent higher than a year ago, the company said Tuesday in a financial report. The company's revenue rose 45 percent to 12.2 billion dollars and the operating income increased by 17 percent to 2.75 billion dollars. The worldwide volume went up 5 percent in the quarter, led by brand Coca-Cola volume growth. The newly-built plants in emerging markets helped boost the sales. "For a sixth consecutive quarter, we delivered performance results in line with or ahead of our long-term growth targets," said Muhtar Kent, the company's chairman and chief executive officer. " Importantly, we accomplished these results during a time of ongoing global market volatility."
