The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, or Dewa, has launched an enhanced e-service called the “One Window/One Step Application for Getting Electricity”. Under this, a customer will be able to apply for electricity connection to new projects through the One Window system by visiting the Dewa website — www.dewa.gov.ae — where relevant documents and technical drawings required for the issue of Dewa Estimate can be uploaded. The website also enables further coordination for procedures such as technical field inspection and others, leading up to the release of power connection. “In line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to make Dubai the most preferred hub for finance, business and tourism, Dewa is relentlessly working to optimise electricity and water services so as to promote competitiveness,” Dewa managing director and chief executive officer Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said. This is well reflected through the World Bank survey conducted during 2011, in which the UAE represented by DEWA ranked 10th in the world,” he added. Dewa’s Information Technology Division has contributed to the support of this project through the international SAP system for resources planning aimed at measuring and integrating all operations within Dewa to assist in providing the best services for its customers, employees and partners.
