Dubai Municipality, DM, has signed an agreement with a private company for the organisation and support of the Quality Assurance for Sustainable Construction Materials Conference 2014, which will be held at the end of this year in Dubai. Hawa Bastaki, Director of Dubai Central Laboratory at DM and Nick Ecart, Director of Business Development of ASTM, signed the agreement of co-operation. Many international experts and specialists are expected to participate in the conference and present their findings regarding the area of sustainable construction materials, according to Bastaki. The conference will focus on the role of quality building materials in achieving higher standards for sustainability and safety in buildings, roads and bridges. The main objective of the conference is to obtain a better understanding of the overarching policies and future strategies of the Government of Dubai and their practical implementation in the design, construction and maintenance processes, she explained. "The event will highlight Dubai Municipality's approach to testing and quality control, as well as specifications requirements to further improve the sustainability and safety standard in the buildings and roads sector. It will also provide insights into the latest research results and product technologies, presented by international industry experts," she added. Nick Ecart said that DCL and ASTM have agreed to develop and implement a working relationship to provide support for the Quality Assurance Conference for Sustainable Construction Materials organized by DCL.
