A number of fuel and gas companies are set to participate in the forthcoming Water, Energy, and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) which is scheduled from March 13 to 15, 2012 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition which projected to be ‘the largest ever in terms of number of participants, categories and activities and events related to energy, water, environment and conservation’ is organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa). “Oil and gas is the hot topic today, so many people are interested in knowing the latest technology in these sectors and other areas of energy,” said the Vice President of Projects and Engineering in Dewa, Branly A. Nassour. He described the importance of the exhibition to The Gulf Today as “one stop point for technology that benefits companies and individual consumers. Instead of going around places in the world looking for technologies, we bring it here.” The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dewa, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer told a pre-event media conference, held at a local hotel on Thursday, that activities about fuel and gas companies will include “exploration, drilling, production, refinement, distribution, transportation and exports.” He said this year’s exhibition will be a platform for top manufacturers, decision makers, executives and top brand owners. He said there will be changes in next year’s (2013) Wetex as it will be held simultaneously with Dubai Global Energy Forum 2013. Talking about the “Green Economy for Sustainable Development”, a long-term initiative to build a green economy in Dubai, Saeed said, “Dewa has for the second time organised SmarTech as a concurrent event with Wetex.” He further mentioned, “I would like to point out that this forthcoming exhibition is particularly noteworthy, as it will see the inclusion of fuel and gas technology companies participating for the first time. These activities will include oil and gas companies’ exploration, drilling, production, refining, distribution, transportation and exports as well as all other related activities. Also, there will be considerable focus on advanced and professional technologies in the field of energy; including fossil fuels, nuclear and renewable energy generation, and highly-efficient and reliable smart grids. “Participants of the exhibition would showcase their latest developments and technologies in the field of energy to implement international energy solutions to meet the ever-increasing demand for energy, to promote economic development, conserve our natural resources and protect the environment.” This year’s exhibition will be the 14th one in a row and has established itself a good reputation as an ideal platform to showcase and address important matters in water conservation, protecting natural resources and sustainable development.
