Huawei Tech Investment Co. Ltd. has launched a new category of wearable technology — the Huawei Watch 2.
The watch combines the connectivity of a smartphone, the smarter living applications of a premium smartwatch and the detailed performance coaching and tracking of a sports tracking device, all in the form of a stylish wristwatch.
Huawei Watch 2 inherits the classic design of the original Huawei Watch while introducing new innovations in every category to better empower users’ spirit of exploration and help them enjoy an active lifestyle.
The watch connects to users’ smartphones (supporting smartphones that run Android and iOS operating systems) providing an extension to their phones on its screen. The watch enables users to read their sports performance records using several advanced sensors and systems that record the distance traveled, speed, number of steps taken, heart rate and calories burnt. The smart watch also enables users to operate fitness applications.
Using the watch, smartphone users can launch the “jogging to burn fat” application and “fitness exercise” with the aim of leading them to speeds required to achieve their fitness goals. The watch displays the percentage of goals reached and alerts the user when he or she requires restful break intervals before continuing strenuous exercises.
The Huawei Watch 2 also features a GPS sensor, music download and streaming functionality and a feature that alerts users to stand up after lengthy periods of sitting down; all with the aim of helping them lead healthy lifestyles at all times.
Huawei Watch 2 and Huawei Watch 2 Classic are available now in the Kingdom. Huawei Watch 2 will be available in Carbon Black and Concrete Grey colors; it is priced at SR999 ($266). Huawei Watch 2 Classic will be available in Titanium Grey and is priced at SR1,299.
Gene Giao, president of Huawei Consumer Business Group for Middle East & Africa, said: “In today’s fragmented information age, the real function of technology is to provide convenience and connectivity without intruding on your daily life.
We wanted to make a product that suits those individuals who wish to explore the limits of their own expression, while still being bound by a need to stay connected. With this product, there is no need to stay glued to your smartphone.”
He added: “The independent connectivity and smart applications that can be used from your wrist mean you can go for a run or a cycle and leave your phone behind with the freedom of knowing you won’t miss an important message.”
