Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced on Thursday that its five-year plan (2015-2020) envisages creating 7,851 new jobs at the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
These include 3,743 jobs for new Kuwaiti graduates and 4,108 for experienced Kuwaitis and foreigners, KPC Deputy Managing Director for Administrative Affairs Ahmad Al-Hamad said at a press conference on "KPC strategy for human resources." "The current fiscal year, ending on March 31, 2015, saw the employment of 650 workers, thus taking the total number of new jobs in the current five-year plan to 1,140," Al-Hamad revealed.
"The total number of workers in the oil sector exceeded 19,000 and will rise further to 26,000 by in the last year of the new five-year plan (2019-2020)," he pointed out.
Al-Hamad noted that the national workforce represents 80 percent, adding that the employment and appointments are bound to clear-cut criterions and conditions in order to ensure transparency.
KPC has set mechanisms for the development of its human resources and building their capacity through training programs with a view to ensuring handing down experience from retiring veterans to the new employees, he went on.
Al-Hamad affirmed that the oil sector remains to be worker-attractive, noting that rate of dropouts from the sector is very low when compared to other sectors.
He ruled out the possibility that the recent decline in the oil prices could affect the employment process in the sector.
On her part, Ibtihaj Al-Fawzan, KPC human resource strategy advisor and director of worker affairs, said the Corporation adopted 11 initiatives for human resources.
"The training programs constitute the main part of the KPC strategy for human resources development which targets the best possible performance of the workers at the KPC and its all subsidiaries," she noted.
Al-Fawzan added that the training programs are supervised by a higher committee made up of the managing directors of the Corporation.
