The Public Authority for Housing Welfare has signed a contract worth KD 3 million (USD 10.2 million) with US-based firm McKinsey and Company, whereby the latter will be providing technical and strategic support.
The deal was considered by PAHW Director General Bader Al-Wegayan the state body's most important contract amid its commitments to the state development plan in offering nationals some 12,000 homes-a-year over the next 10 years.
The contract mainly aims to carry out a governance consultation and an economic feasibility study for the southern city of Kairan and the northern city of Metlaa, which can together provide a total 65,000 houses, Al-Wegayan said in a statement.
The economic feasibility study will target, in detail, public utilities for the cities of Sabah Al-Ahmad and Jaber Al-Ahmad. The appropriate recommendations for the development of the non-residential sector will result from the study, he added.
The contract will also provide specialized consultancy services and support for hiring two consultants specialized in media, marketing and communications and in IT, along with a strategy and workplan for the investment sector and projects PAHW projects with the private sector.
