The students visited Bahrain at the invitation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs.
GPIC Corporate Communications Manager Zuhair Tawfiqi along with members of the Company's Executive Management welcomed the students and conveyed to them the greetings of Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery.
Tawfiqi briefed the visitors on GPIC’s business philosophy, its commitment to team spirit and its influential role in the local community. He said the Company is not only looking at making profits but on an overall vision.
He said GPIC, through its pioneering role in the field of social responsibility, hopes to inspire other companies and individuals to help and contribute to the development of their communities through innovative means and practices.
Tawfiqi said GPIC is proud of its excellence in the field of occupational safety, health and the environment, in which it had won many regional and international awards as well as received accolades from institutions at home and abroad. He recalled GPIC’s recent milestone or achieving a record in working without a lost time accident.
Youth Committee Chairperson Ruquyyah Es-haq introduced the visitors to GPIC’s leadership style and its training programmes. She spoke about raising the efficiency and professionalism of Company employees and highlighted the rate of Bahrainisation and GPIC’s succession policy.
She briefed the delegation on GPIC's philosophy, its activities, and its various community programmes in accordance with the flexible strategies and policies set up by the Board of Directors and implemented by the Executive Management. A question and answer session followed the briefing.
The visitors later went around the complex and visited the Learning and Leadership Academy and the eLearning Centre, where they were told about the Company’s operations, production and exports.
They visited several environmental projects around the complex that show GPIC’s environmental orientation.
The students thanked the Executive Management and all officials for the welcome and the hospitality and said they had benefitted a lot from the visit, which had given them an opportunity to witness the development of the region’s petrochemical and fertilizer industry as well as initiatives to support the youth and education sectors.
They said GPIC could be considered a model of the industry’s positive role in community work and sustainability.
