Tehran - FNA

Managing-Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Abbas She’ri-Moqaddam said that Persian Gulf Holding must remain a sovereign company. “The sovereignty status of Persian Gulf is a propriety and necessity,” She’ri-Moqaddam said. He added that the remaining shares of Persian Gulf Holding must not be sold on the stock market. She’ri-Moqaddam said it was in the interest of the country to preserve the remaining 38 percent shares of Persian Gulf Holding. He asked the new managing-director of Persian Gulf Holding to follow up on this issue seriously. “The correct method of management is to serve the human resources. Redundancy must be the last option of any manager,” he said. She’ri-Moqaddam, who is also deputy petroleum minister, expressed his opposition to layoffs, saying: “An enterprise is likely to become profitable following layoff, but in the long-term, that entity will face problems.” The official also called for the resolution of problems between Persian Gulf Holding and Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company. He said obstacles to cooperation with foreign companies including South African Sasol must be removed. “We have to adopt methods so that we will benefit from the partnership of foreigners in the future projects.” She’ri-Moqaddam said the Persian Gulf Holding’s subsidiaries must help each other to remove problems instead of thinking of profitability. The former managing-director of Persian Gulf Holding underscored challenges between this company and IPCC. He said another challenge is to remove hurdles to foreign cooperation in Araya-Sasol petrochemical project. “Another challenge of us was joint petrochemical company in the Philippines. But we accomplished it with the least costs.” Adel Nejad-Salim, the new managing-director, said a state-oriented view could not help run such entities as Persian Gulf Holding. “The best technologies are achieved by human resources. Without specialized manpower, nothing will go ahead,” he said. “Today, we can no longer manage these entities with management attitudes of the past decades and we have to develop scientific and modern methods for that purpose,” he added.
