Cairo - MENA

Royal Dutch Shell plans to increase its production in the Western Desert and in Rosetta on the Mediterranean Sea in the coming period, said Egypt's Petroleum Minister Tareq el Molla.

The world giant's plans in Egypt were discussed by Sami Iskander, Executive Vice President for Joint-Ventures, during a meeting with Molla.

A recent discovery, BTE-2 in Shell's concession area in the Western Desert was mulled during the meeting.

The minister hailed the company's investments in Egypt as one of the largest producers in the Western Desert.

Shell has won a recent international bid round in North Om Baraka concession.

Iskander, for his part, said more investments will be pumped by Shell into Egypt in the coming period in light of recent discoveries.
