Tamkeen’s “Discover Life at Work” campaign will focus on careers in the Manufacturing industry in the month of September . The careers awareness programme was initiated to promote awareness about unconventional careers in emerging sectors such as Logistics, Manufacturing and Tourism, targeting youth between 15 and 25 years from schools and universities. In the manufacturing campaign, students will be made aware of the various opportunities in a wide range of sectors within the manufacturing industry such as aluminum, gas, petrochemicals, wood furniture, textiles, readymade garments, paper, plastic, metals, foods and medicine, as well as architecture and construction manufacturing such as cement, concrete slabs and electric cables.Manufacturing industries play a very important role in Bahrain’s economy. The value added by Bahrain's manufacturing industries to the country's economy surged 38% to BD677 million in the first half of 2010. This represents a contribution of about 16.4% to the country's gross domestic product. Tamkeen is working towards creating maximum awareness about the manufacturing industry through a communication programme entailing outdoor media, reading material, audio visuals as well as radio and social media. Following the manufacturing campaign, next month, the campaign will focus on the Tourism sector, concluded by a national Careers Convention to be held at the end of November.
