Volkswagen confirm interest in buying Alfa Romeo

The Volkswagen Group on Wednesday confirmed that it was interested in buying Alfa Romeo from Fiat. "It's no secret that we consider Alfa Romeo to be an interesting marque," Volkswagen spokesman Eric Felber told ANSA. However, Felber stressed that VW would not be too dismayed if it failed to land the Italian company. "You can be sure that we have lots to do with the 12 marques we already have". The VW group already owns Italian sports-car maker Lamborghini and motorbike producer Ducati.
