German car giant Volkswagen is the target of 1,400 legal cases from investors claiming a total of 8.2 billion euros in compensation over its emissions cheating scandal, the state court in Brunswick said in a statement on Wednesday.
Most of the cases are "bundled" actions containing claims from multiple plaintiffs, many of them private investors. The embattled automaker also faces legal actions from large institutional investors, German state governments and the government of the US.
