Indeks FTSE-100 Inggris menguat 0,33%

Saham-saham Inggris ditutup lebih tinggi pada Kamis (24/8) dengan indeks acuan Financial Times Stocks Exchange (FTSE-100) di London, Inggris, menguat 0,33 persen atau 24,41 poin menjadi 7.407,06 poin.
Provident Financial, pemberi kredit perumahan rakyat (sub-prime) di Inggris, sahamnya melonjak 13,16 persen sekaligus menjadi peraih keuntungan terbesar (top gainer) di antara saham-saham unggulan (blue chip), demikian laporan kantor berita Xinhua China.
Diikuti oleh saham CRH dan WPP yang masing-masing naik 3,83 persen dan 2,96 persen.
Sementara itu, maskapai penerbangan berbiaya rendah di Inggris EasyJet mencatat kerugian terbesar (top loser) di antara saham-saham unggulan, lantaran harga sahamnya jatuh 4,41 persen.
Selain itu, saham hotel, kedai kopi dan restoran multinasional Whitbread merosot 2,60 persen, serta kelompok bisnis ritel Marks & Spencer Group (M&S) sahamnya turun 1,92 persen.
