Qatar Exchange index dropped by 27.67 points (0.34%) when trading closed Wednesday at 8,166.98 points from the previous closing of 8,194.65. The volume of the shares traded was down to 6,532,653 from 6,666,859 on Tuesday and the value of shares was QR 177,901,677.27 from QR 161,332,435.56 Tuesday. From the 42 listed companies, ten noted gains today and 22 were down while seven remained unchanged. Banks and financial services currently value index was 1,984.41, up by 3.05 points (0.15%). Among the top gainers were Qatar Oman Investment Company up 0.67 (5.53%) at QR 12.79 from the previous closing of QR 12.12 and Al Khaleej Takaful was up by QR 1.20 (2.87%) at QR 43 from the previous closing of QR 41.80. Among the losers was Qatar Navigation which dropped 1.33% or QR 0.80 to close today at QR 59.50 from the previous QR 60.30. Qatar Insurance dropped by 1.11% or QR 0.80 when it closed at QR 71.10 from the previous closing of QR 71.90. The Banking and Financial sector index was up by 3.05 points. Consumer Goods and Services sector index fell by 17.39 points. The industrial sector was down by 13.64 points while insurance sector lost 9.34 points. (QNA)
