Qatar Exchange index gained 42.15 points (0.50%) during the month of September compared to August, closing the month at 8,393.92 points when trading closed Thursday. The trading value was QR 5,330,276,869.42 compared to QR 5,647,527,945.54 last month, a decrease by 5.62%. The trading volume was130,765,506 as against 133,160,021 shares last month, a decrease by 1.80%. The number of transactions was 85,372 compared to 89,680 in August, a drop by 4.80%. From the 42 listed companies, 22 ended the month higher while 19 fell and one remained unchanged. Industries Qatar led the trading value during this week accounting for 18.37% of the total trading value, followed by Masraf Al Rayan with 13.97% and Qatar National Bank accounted for 9.42%. Banking and financial sector led the trading value in September with 41.2% of the total traded value. Services sector accounted for 36.76%, industrial sector accounted for 20.29% and insurance sector accounted for 1.75%. The market capitalization increased by 0.35% in 20 trading days in September to reach QR 440,207,381,220.10 compared to QR 438,688,930,041.11 at the end of August which saw 21 days of activity on the Qatari bourse. Services sector led trading volume in September with 51.71% of the total traded volume. Banking and financial sector accounted for 37.33%. Industrial sector ranked third with 9.76% and insurance sector accounted for 1.20%.
